It’s a very busy hotel, within easy walking distance of the centre’s main shopping areas. It has plenty of facilities and seems very popular. What makes this hotel stand out are its people. Very pleasant and welcoming, and genuine with it, not just the corporate gesture that they’ve been told to do you get in some chain hotels. A good example of this is at breakfast, you’re greeted on entry and taken to your table, and immediately you notice there’s at least half a dozen staff bringing you drinks, clearing away, and setting tables ready for the next guests, a well-oiled machine but still time for friendly banter and assistance. So many hotels now have dirty tables that haven’t been cleared or wiped, nobody around to ask for anything you need. The service here is professional yet relaxed guest interaction, and it’s what makes this hotel stand out from many other “margins above all else” hotels that claim but fail to deliver any reasonable level of hospitality. Recommended highly for having staff around when you’re likely to need them, for having staff with personalities, they’ve got this right, and everything else falls into place. Food and drink were good, room facilities were good, and hotel cleanliness was very good.

A good value for money hotel. Staff were really friendly. A huge shout out to Sam in the restaurant. He made us feel so welcome and was super helpful and friendly. The twin room we had was nice and the beds were very comfy! The hairdryer broke but staff brought a new one within five minutes and were very apologetic for the fact that it blew up 🤣 We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was lovely and well presented. Breakfast was a buffet and the hot breakfast was very tasty. We had the twilight spa package and the staff in the spa were lovely. However the treatments were a bit short of the 25 minutes advertised. One small thing…the pool could do with a couple of sun loungers to make it a bit more relaxing when you’re there. Overall a lovely stay and we will definitely return!

We stayed in a deluxe canal view room. The room was gorgeous and very spacious with a sofa and desk on one side, and huge bed to the other. We ate elsewhere, however had a few drinks in the bar before heading to our room for the night, great choice of drinks and good value, the bar had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant for breakfast was lovely, food fresh and hot. The bed and shower were brilliant, and I have to say the curtains really worked, the room was blackout when closed. We had access to the swimming pool, however we didn’t know this until we came and checked in so weren’t able to use it as we had no costumes and none in local shops. Brilliant stay and have already said we would stay again.

The Mill Hotel and Spa is in a great location in Chester, on the canal and a 10 minute walk into the centre of town; it also has a free car park which is a great boon. The building itself is a very modern conversion and extension of an old mill, but nicely done. The staff, at reception, in the restaurant and bar, were all polite and helpful. We only ate in the restaurant for breakfast but the quality and choice of that were excellent. We used the spa facilities and they were very good, with a small pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, all very clean and well maintained. Our room, Number 310 was very small and the bed quite hard but that's not a complaint, merely an observation.
